My trip to Indore, Ujjain and Manawar

Road Trip 2
Day 1: This was a trip which was planned by dad and me on May 1 at early 4:30 in the morning. We packed our bags in a hurry and were ready to go by 7. Getting through early in the morning wasn't a big difficulty due to less traffic. Dad actually drove the whole day right through till evening when we reached Manawar - a small town in Madhya Pradesh in district Dhar, and met up with an old friend of my dad - Kailash, who is a writer for a newspaper and also owns a Hotel at the center of the town at Manawar.

Day 2: Kailash uncle was kind to us to drive us down to The Temple of Lord Omkareshwar is situated on the banks of River Narmada, in between Indore & Khandwa. It is also a rare archaeological site. The temple is situated on an island, which is encircled by the Narmada River; to our next stop Rani Ahilyabai Holkar's Fort on the banks of the river Narmada (see images) The fort is a magnifique from the 17th Century and its still in the best condition as you could find, strategically located from point of view of scenic and war,
the next stop was to; the beautiful dancer Rani Roopmati's Palace right at the top of a hill from where there are splendid views to all sides, where Roopmati and Baz Bahadur's love flourished. It says Roopmati used to dance at the music played by Baz Bahadur when he used to play at his palace which was few kilometers away.

Day 3: We Bid goodbye to our family at Manawar and left for northwards to Ujjain fo where i was dying to go as i had heard of Bhairav temple where you get Daru as prasad, which is true we got this really kadwi daru as prasad. What was more sprising was the moorti of Bhairav also drinks daru and the pundits, experts do not know where all that daru goes to.
Next stop was out Jyotirling number 2, Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the most famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingams, which are supposed to be the most sacred abodes of Shiva.
After the darshan, we had a lavish langar at the temple and for the first time i had food from my hands and not using a spoon, it was a langar to die for. Later Dad planned to leave back for the Narmada river, which was the best idea as we got to stay at this hotel Narmada Retreat, which was really a treat (check the images of the place), if you ever travel to MP, you must must must stay at this place atleast for one night. this was bday night and it was lighting continuously outside our hotel room and i tried taking few images of the lighting but with no luck i attempted taking a video too, and after atleast standing there for 14 mins i finally captured a lighting going right through my camera screen, it was just Amazing.

Day 4: Day 4 was a another big long day drive back to Mumbai from Narmada resort which took us approximately the whole day. After the nice drizzly weather in Ujjain it was way to Hot just reaching Nashik and on the Nashik-Mumbai highway i actually landed up puking all i had eaten for Lunch. Landed up sleeping the rest of my way back home.

In Total we covered 1800 Kms. and valued a great experience of central part of India. Please find links to Facebook images from my trip and feel free to comment and also a google map of our rendezvous on the road to central India.

Adidas and the IPL3

The thing i miss most about is the Adidas Cricket Ads which were far better than any other stupid ads .... i used really look forward to these Ads.
The other stupid ads have taken the charm away from the AdidasCricket Ads which were truely cricket IPL focused, spirit and very motivating ....
Here i am sharing the three ads that they had featured from last two months for everyone to see , do check them out

My favourtie one is the 'Fielder' (middle Video) where he goes something like -- i cants sing, i cant dance , i cant climb mountains, i cant cook But sometimes i Can Fly.

Going Banana/s !!!

The above images are actual images taken by me after buying this 2-in-1 banana from the local vendor. Just early February there was news all over of Banana Plant being injected with pesticides to generate bigger bananas.Ethylene is injected at a particular ppm level to ensure that the bananas get ripened within the desired period.
This banana was definitely bigger and tasted the same but can these effect the health of a person, is the real question?

New A/C B.E.S.T. Buses

Finally got to travel in the new A/c B.E.S.T. Buses; here's my inputs:

Pros:
1. less jerky (maybe because of the new automatic gearing (see pic))
2. more spacious
3. less crowded
4. already covering a lot of important routes
5. and the obvious, air conditioned

Cons:

1. less buses in number , leading to less frequency
2. costly for aam janta
3. concerns of emergency protocol, (just one emergency window in the middle, notting at the end)

My only concern point is what if the A/C stops working while the bus is still en route to its destinations?
I asked this particular bus wala (pic) on the same , his reply "we can use the 'fan' system on the A/C" But then that is injustice to commuters who have paid like Rs.30 just to travel by A/C for which a non-A/C would have taken Rs.8

Also, you cannot open the windows as there is no feature for that.
Another soultion given by the Buswalla was to call for a emergency A/c Bus , which seems like a good solution but will take a lot of time of the already agitated commuters.

This is a point of concern and should be dealt by the BEST as soon as possible.

Traffic snurls in Mumbai, and then a Solution

Mumbai traffic has become a menace (Read Mumbai Mirror ) and moreover all over the place MMRDA and BMC and loads other construction companies , there is a Metro coming up in phases and then there is always the pipes lines of water or electricity which need to be beneath the surface of the road, have dug up all roads leaving not much to drive on.
And then there is always new flyovers coming up in every T Junction as if we are trying to set a new world record of having the maximum number of flyovers in a city.

Need to have a solution to this problem and sooner the better , looking at the cars on road to only increasing day by day (Read new cars launch in mumbai).

I and my friend Milind , we were having a very hearty talk on the same and thinking of some solution to the problem of ever-increasing problem. After giving it some real thought , i remembered my trip to Taiwan in 1997 where i remembered few really important features.
Once we landed on the Airport , and packed our luggage and got in the car and left, we had already hit a so called 'expressway' which actually lead us to our uncle's home which was 35 kms. away from the Airport. We had no stops, no signals, no lane changing and no havaldar to ask for 'youknowwhat'.
it was just a smooth ride uptill home. The only time we took a turn was when we left the 'expressway' to a colony where my uncle's home lay.

My point i want to put forth is that we need to look at a flyover which streches to the lengths and depths of Mumbai. And for us we are lucky that Mumbai is a far more straighter city than any other. Let me put it this way, how about a 'Flyover' which starts from Mankhurd and ends in Nariman Point? why make different smaller flyovers here and there. And the best part is you can have left-right exits where ever there is needed. imagine having a 4 lane or 6 lane flyover in a length of 35-40 kms whooshing away the length which is suspended 15 ft - 20ft over all the nuances of everyday life. Imagine the time we save.

To illustrate my idea, it will a very long extended version of JJ Flyover from both sides. Another could be if we had the mumbai-pune expressway in mumbai. give it a thought , share your ideas in the comments below.
